"I feel very out of place," Adam said as we looked for seats in the movie theater. I looked around and sure enough, the audience was mostly women. What men were there were over 60, and wearing flowered Hawaiian shirts.
I felt a little sheepish for the first couple of minutes during the movie, thinking that Adam would certainly hate this movie, and why had I come with him instead of some of my friends. But then, I just couldn't resist the fantastic time I was having watching the movie, and I stopped worrying about what Adam was thinking!
Mamma Mia!! How can I resist ya!
It's been proved I love me a good musical--and this is a new favorite! And Adam will admit that he laughed out loud at some spots. But he also says he gets to pick the next 5 movies we see, and I need to tell all my friends what a great husband he is to go see that with me.
As I watched it, I felt like a college kid again--or I wanted to be a college kid again, dancing with my friends and just having a great time.
A word of advice to Pierce Brosnan: Which ever of your "people" told you it would be a good idea to accept a singing role in a movie should be fired. It wasn't a good idea.
A word of advice to you: Go see this movie--with your girlfriends, not your husband.

Here comes the bride
Last Saturday I went to a beautiful wedding down on the river. The bride was beautiful, the food was delicious, the weather was wonderful. The whole evening was really nice, especially when I remembered how wonderful it is I'm not a single girl.
Do you know what I'm talking about?
The bouquet toss.
Maybe you loved it, I personally hated it. I always hid out with my mom who was cutting the cake at any wedding I went to as a single girl.
So I sat there, watching the girls wait for the bouquet, and remembered how wonderful it is to be married.

The Fly Hunter
Benjamin has some hidden talents. He's not the bravest or toughest kid on the block. He'll scream bloody murder if you need to extract a splinter. He tends to day dream while biking.
But he can play a mean game of Lego Star Wars on the Wii.
He's learning how to make explosions and twirl paint sticks from his cousin Jordan.
And, ever since he's been little, he's been able to catch and kill flies. I'd had three flies in my house for the past couple of days, that I just couldn't get. But Benjamin? He's a Fly Hunter!
When he was three years old, he'd stand on a stool in my kitchen and catch tiny baby flies with a napkin.
And today, I finally gave in and got the expert. Within 10 minutes, he'd gotten all three flies.
Maybe he just has the patience to stick with it. After I miss twice I'm done. Or maybe he really hunts those flies down with skill and precision. Whatever the reason, I'm glad he's honed this particular skill.

Swimming lessons
Swimming lessons this year were a success! The kids had a great time, and actually passed of their level. Madeleine keeps asking me to sign her up again, and maybe we will.
Isaac was actually managable while we were at the pool because of his deep and abiding hatred of water. He sat on my lap for the first couple of days, and then after that he was brave enough to walk around the pool, while holding my hand.
At first Benjamin wouldn't go off the diving board; he gave me the "are you crazy?" look when I asked him if he would. But he decided to be brave, and after that first time where I was sure someone was going to have to drop him in, he loved it! His bounces were higher each time, and he just had a great time.

In search of the great white whale
When we moved into our house six years ago, we noticed that it had been decorated by an old lady. That is to say, the walls were tinted pink, and the fixtures were bright, shiny gold.
This is the actual wall paper that was in the master bedroom. It was literally the first thing to go in the house.

Here's the lovely pink and white linoleum in the kitchen.

We've lately been modernizing and updating. The door knobs were changed, new faucets in the bathrooms. The light fixtures have all been updated, except for this one.
We are apparently asking too much from ceiling fan manufacturers. We would like something that isn't ugly, but also puts out a decent amount of light. Such a thing does not exist. We've bought TWO ceiling fans; both were lacking.
Tonight, my hero of a husband, spray painted the gold an anodized bronze, and put the old fan back up.
And Hallelujah! Light! I can see!
Now if we could only find the screws to put the fan blades back on...

Madeleine lately has been singing the jingle for Band-Aids. It goes: "I am stuck on Band-Aid Brand 'cause Band-Aids help heal me," only Madeleine sings it this way: "I am stuck on Band-Aids 'cause Band-Aids help you bleed!"
Isaac and Adam have started playing the cutest game ever. The only word Isaac says really well is "Daddy!" So he'll run around the house yelling it over and over. Adam has started yelling "Isaac!" back. So they spend their time with each other yelling names back and forth--it's so cute!
Benjamin and Adam were the only ones to come through the strep throat plague last week unscathed. As a reward for this, they pretty much played Wii non-stop while I was laid up in bed with the other 2 kids.
